Ceremony at Southwind Ranch in the spring

I’ve curated this list to include outdoor wedding venues in Greenville SC (around 1 hour from Downtown Greenville). They have a beautiful aesthetic and practical functionality and are very picturesque. As we continue to rank in tourist and travel guides, our downtown area is a must visit. Both engaged couples and guests fall in love with our city. Whether you’re planning your Greenville SC wedding as a local or destination wedding, you’ll feel at ease knowing that your guests will have plenty to do.

Outdoor wedding venues in Greenville SC come in all shapes and styles. Whether you’re dreaming of a mountain view ceremony, a lakeside celebration, an intimate garden, or a downtown rooftop overlooking the city, there’s truly a venue that fits every couple’s vision.

As a Greenville SC wedding photographer, I’ve photographed all of the venues below, toured others before they officially opened, and even celebrated my own wedding at one of them.

While every venue has beautiful photo opportunities (and a great photographer can maximize any space!), I’ve learned that the guest and bridal party experience can make just as much of a difference. Some venues have open fields where guests can enjoy lawn games during cocktail hour while others offer spacious getting-ready suites for a relaxed morning. I’ll share some of those little details throughout this guide. You’ll also find some of my favorite portrait locations and practical tips for each venue.

If you’re beginning your venue search, I hope this guide helps you narrow down which outdoor wedding venues in Greenville SC feel most like you.

How I Chose These Outdoor Wedding Venues in Greenville SC

Every venue in this guide is one I’ve personally photographed, toured, researched, or experienced firsthand. Instead of ranking them by popularity, I focused on the things couples usually don’t realize until after they’ve booked.

When I’m photographing a wedding, I’m constantly paying attention to questions like:

  • Is there enough shade for a summer ceremony?
  • Do guests have something to enjoy while the couple steps away for portraits?
  • Are the getting-ready spaces bright and comfortable?
  • Can grandparents easily get from the parking area to the ceremony?
  • Does the property offer a variety of portrait locations without leaving the venue?
  • Those details can have just as much impact on your wedding day as the venue itself.

Greenville SC Garden Venues

Piney Grove Ranch

If you’ve always pictured exchanging your vows beside the water with fields and tall trees surrounding you, Piney Grove Ranch is one of my favorite outdoor wedding venues near Greenville.

I may be a little biased because my husband and I actually got married here, but even before our own wedding day, I had the privilege of photographing Piney Grove Ranch during its grand opening and watching the venue add more intentional touches, including an included decor collection and more ceremony spaces.

One of my favorite things about Piney Grove Ranch is that couples aren’t limited to one ceremony backdrop. Depending on your outdoor wedding vision, you can say “I do” on the wooden deck overlooking the lake, beside the little white chapel, or underneath the open-air gazebo surrounded by mature trees and a beautiful fountain. Even after photographing multiple sessions here, each gallery feels different because every location has its own personality.

From the very beginning, when guests hop into a golf cart from the parking area, you can tell that the experience has been thoughtfully planned. During cocktail hour, your guests can watch cows on the pasture, walk around the lake, play mini golf, or simply enjoy the peaceful atmosphere while you sneak away for portraits. When it’s time for the reception, the enclosed glass venue allows everyone to enjoy the surrounding views without worrying about the weather.

Photographer Tip:

The light over the lake throughout the day will be harsher, but during sunset, if you time it just right, the sun setting through the tall trees creates a soft mood over the lake while everything else starts hiding in shadow. .

Style:

Elevated but cozy and intimate, whimsical, fairy-tale, woodsy, lakeside, romantic fields

Perfect For: Couples who want multiple outdoor ceremony locations, possibly a more whimsy-fairytale style, and an elegant indoor reception without losing the outdoor feel.

Venue Info: Approximately 35–40 minutes from Downtown Greenville | 641 Piney Grove School Road, Gray Court, SC 29645 | (864) 715-5222 | admin@pineygroveranch.com | Up to 150 guests | Avg. venue spend: $6,200–$9,200

Rock Quarry Garden

Ceremony at an outdoor wedding venue in Greenville SC at Rock Quarry Garden

If you’re looking for an outdoor wedding venue in Greenville SC that feels like a hidden garden while still being minutes from downtown, Rock Quarry Garden feels surprisingly secluded nestled inside Cleveland Park.

Between the stone bridge, gentle waterfall, winding creek, and seasonal flowers, it’s hard to believe you’re still in the middle of the city. If you’re planning a smaller wedding ceremony or simply love the idea of exchanging vows surrounded by nature, this park offers a beautiful setting without leaving Greenville.

Spring and early summers are especially beautiful for proposals and weddings here when the flowers begin blooming and everything feels lush and green.

Because Rock Quarry Garden is primarily a ceremony space, most couples celebrate with a reception nearby. Fortunately, downtown Greenville has plenty of nearby reception venues like the Westin Poinsett Hotel and The Loft by Soby’s, making it easy to enjoy a garden ceremony before celebrating elsewhere.

Photographer Tip: If you’re planning a warmer-season wedding, I’d recommend choosing a later ceremony time to keep both your guests and portraits more comfortable since the open lawn down in the valley of the garden gets warm. However as you plan for portraits, keep in mind, that because the garden sits in a valley surrounded by trees and residential homes, the sun dips down a lot earlier.

Style: Ethereal, garden, intimate, completely outdoors, romantic

Perfect For: Couples planning an intimate outdoor ceremony surrounded by gardens before celebrating at a nearby downtown reception.

Venue Info: Approximately 5 minutes from Downtown Greenville | 200 McDaniel Avenue, Greenville, SC 29601 | (864) 467-4355 | cares@greenvillesc.gov | Up to 100 guests | Rental fee: $350–$675

Elegant Estates and Historic Venues in Greenville SC

Heyward Manor

Heyward Manor has quickly become one of the Upstate’s most recognizable wedding venues, and after photographing a handful of weddings here, I’m not surprised it has attracted big names.

As you drive down the long entrance overlooking the lake, the property immediately feels tucked away in the countryside. The white barn, open fields, and water views create an elegant Southern backdrop.

One of my favorite portrait locations at Heyward Manor is the rowboat along the lake. It creates such timeless portraits along with the tree swing, especially during golden hour when the water reflects the evening light.

The bridal getting-ready suite features a large window that fills the room with beautiful natural light, making it one of my favorite places for bridal portraits before the ceremony. Meanwhile, the groom’s lounge has a completely different feel with darker finishes, a pool table, and easy access to the lake (perfect if the bride let’s you do some pre-wedding fishing!).

Although I’ve photographed indoor ceremonies here, I think the outdoor ceremony locations are just as beautiful. Between the hydrangeas, open lawn, and lakeside views, couples have several gorgeous options for saying their vows while guests enjoy the surrounding scenery.

Photographer Tip: Leave time for portraits at the rowboat and swing about 30 minutes before sunset. It’s one of the most iconic locations on the property.

Style: Open, elegant, Southern estate, romantic fields, lakeside, timeless

Perfect For: Couples wanting an elegant estate wedding with lake views, spacious getting-ready suites, and classic Southern charm.

Venue Info: Approximately 55–65 minutes from Downtown Greenville | 5827 Highway 81, Iva, SC 29655 | (864) 617-0391 | info@heywardmanor.com | Up to 800 guests, depending on event style | Avg. venue spend: $4,000–$5,500

The Manor at Willowcreek

One of the newest outdoor wedding venues in Greenville SC in 2026, The Manor at Willowcreek blends classic estate architecture with peaceful natural surroundings.

I had the opportunity to tour the venue before its grand opening, which made seeing all of the finishing touches come together even more exciting. Maria, one of the owners, shared some of the thought process behind the venue’s design and intentionality behind the elegant experience for couples.

The property offers several beautiful outdoor ceremony locations, including a gazebo overlooking the creek, the expansive lawn in front of the manor, and a symmetrical tree line that reminds me of the Sound of Music.

Inside, the manor feels refined without feeling overly formal. Large windows bring in natural light throughout the spacious getting-ready spaces, while the surrounding property offers beautiful portrait locations.

Because the venue is newer, everything feels fresh while still maintaining the character of a historic estate. It’s a wonderful option for couples looking for an upscale venue without traveling far from Greenville.

Photographer Tip: Don’t be afraid to utilize the creek even in a wedding dress. Most venue packages offer a complimentary photo session reservation. Scheduling your engagement portraits here would create a beautiful “then-and-now” album.

Style: Elegant, estate, whimsical, creekside, timeless

Perfect For: Couples dreaming of an upscale estate wedding with an all-inclusive package

Venue Info: Approximately 40–50 minutes from Downtown Greenville | Landrum, SC | (800) 429-8585 | hello@thewillowcreek.com | Up to 200 guests, depending on event style | Avg. wedding spend: $25,000–$40,000

The Duncan Estate

Hidden among towering trees in Spartanburg, The Duncan Estate has always reminded me of a secret garden. It’s one of those venues that feels just right for a Christmas wedding which I photographed here.

The intimate property naturally lends itself to that cozy atmosphere. Even without colorful spring flowers, the historic estate creates a romantic backdrop that photographs beautifully year-round.

One feature I especially appreciate is how the venue flows throughout the day. The upstairs getting-ready suite gives the bridal party plenty of privacy before the ceremony; it even has a quaint balcony that lets the bride sneak a peek at her groom as he arrives. The outdoor garden ceremony space also transitions naturally into the tented reception.

Something I thought was especially thoughtful was the dedicated room for cake cutting just off the back porch. Rather than keeping everyone seated all evening, guests could gather for cake cutting before heading back outside to enjoy s’mores around the fire or dance on the dance floor. It created a relaxed rhythm to the evening that encouraged people to mingle and enjoy the property.

If you’re looking for an estate venue with mature landscaping and a cozy, tucked-away feel, The Duncan Estate offers something a little different from many of the larger Upstate venues.

Photographer Tip: The cake room with its large windows creates a well-lit bridal portraiture space.

Style: Historic estate, intimate, secret garden, timeless

Perfect For: Couples wanting a romantic estate wedding with outdoor gardens, a tented reception, and a cozy atmosphere.

Venue Info: Approximately 40–45 minutes from Downtown Greenville | 840 Union Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302 | (864) 529-7287 | info@duncanestate.com | Up to 250 guests | Wedding packages: $15,290–$28,290

Adelaide Events Venue

Autumn vintage style outdoor wedding venue in Greenville SC at Adelaide Events Venue

Adelaide Events Venue has such a cozy, welcoming feel that it’s especially beautiful during the fall. I’ve photographed multiple weddings here, and every one has felt intimate, relaxed, and full of vintage flair

The open-air reception area flows beautifully from the ceremony, helping the celebration feel connected from beginning to end.

Inside, Adelaide has so much vintage charm. The décor gives the venue its own personality without competing with your wedding design, allowing couples to easily personalize the space while still embracing the character of the venue itself.

Because the venue feels enclosed by the surrounding property, it creates an intimate atmosphere that encourages guests to spend the evening together instead of feeling spread out across a large property.

Photographer Tip: Autumn is especially beautiful here. The warm colors pair perfectly with the venue’s vintage character.

Style: Intimate, vintage, cozy, open-air reception

Perfect For: Couples wanting a charming venue with vintage character and a welcoming atmosphere.

Venue Info: Approximately 40–45 minutes from Downtown Greenville | 2780 Foster Road, Inman, SC 29349 | (864) 921-2506 | adelaideeventsvenue@gmail.com | Up to 120 guests | Saturday wedding rental from $3,950

Historic Hopkins Farm

Historic Hopkins Farm is one of those venues that feels tucked away in nature while still offering plenty of thoughtfully designed spaces throughout the property. With nearly 200 years of family history, it blends historic charm with lush greenery, making it a beautiful setting for an outdoor wedding.

I had the opportunity to photograph a wedding here, and one of my favorite parts of the day was starting at the historic home for getting-ready photos. There was plenty of room for everyone to spread out, and the home’s character added so much warmth to the morning. Stepping onto the patio almost reminded me of a small Italian courtyard, making it one of my favorite spots for portraits before the ceremony.

The covered pavilion overlooking the lake was such a beautiful ceremony spot, especially with the trees providing both shade and beautiful light. Afterward, everyone transitioned to the garden for an outdoor reception, and I loved how naturally the spaces flowed together. The venue has so much greenery throughout that it already feels full and inviting without needing a lot of additional décor.

One fun local fact is that the surrounding Hopkins Farm property hosts a hot air balloon festival in the summer.

Photographer Tip: The stone patio at the girls’ getting ready house lends well as an Italian-inspired first look spot.

Style: Historic estate, lush gardens, whimsical, lakeside, romantic

Perfect For: Couples looking for a historic venue with a covered lakeside ceremony space, garden reception, and timeless charm.

Venue Info: Approximately 30 minutes from Downtown Greenville | 3717 Fork Shoals Road, Simpsonville, SC 29680 | (864) 999-1179 | hcannon.hopkinsfarm@gmail.com | Up to 300 guests | Wedding packages: $8,000–$10,000

Country Club Venue in Greenville SC

Green Valley Country Club

Green Valley Country Club offers a great option for an outdoor wedding venue in Greenville SC especially for couples wanting beautiful golf course views paired with an elegant reception space.

Before Club ’58, Green Valley Country Club’s refreshed dining experience, officially opened, I actually photographed branding images for the restaurant. The redesign introduced rich navy tones, warm wood finishes, and a more modern feel while still honoring the club’s long history.

I also attended a company Christmas party here, which gave me the opportunity to experience the venue as a guest instead of behind the camera. It reminded me how well the space works for entertaining. The dining room feels intimate for dinner, while the larger gathering areas naturally encourage guests to mingle throughout the evening.

Large windows and doors open directly onto the patio, making it simple for guests to step outside and enjoy views of the golf course and Paris Mountain without feeling disconnected from the reception. During cooler months, the outdoor fireplace creates a cozy place to gather while still enjoying the fresh air.

Photographer Tip: For portraits, you’ll have plenty of options. The white columns at the front entrance along with the landscaped lawn create timeless portraits, while the surrounding golf course provides beautiful greenery throughout the year.

Style: Classic, elegant, golf course, Southern, mountain views

Perfect For: Couples wanting an elegant country club wedding with beautiful views and a seamless indoor-outdoor guest experience.

Venue Info: Approximately 15–20 minutes from Downtown Greenville | 225 Green Valley Road, Greenville, SC 29617 | (864) 246-2141 | brian@greenvalley.cc | Up to 300 guests, depending on event style | Avg. event spend: $5,000–$10,000+

Barn Wedding Venues in Greenville SC

Aurora Farms

Tucked away in the suburbs of Taylors, Aurora Farms is easy to miss as you drive by, but once you pull onto the property, you’ll understand the charm of the white barn and great willow tree.

I’ve photographed a handful of weddings here, but I’ve also experienced the venue from a completely different perspective—as a bridesmaid! Seeing the day unfold from both behind the camera and alongside the bridal party gave me better insight for how well the venue flows.

The outdoor ceremony beneath the willow tree is one of my favorite features. It creates a naturally romantic setting without needing much additional décor, and the surrounding greenery keeps the ceremony feeling intimate.

After the ceremony, guests transition into the bright white barn for the reception. I love how much natural light fills the interior, creating a welcoming atmosphere throughout the evening while still giving couples beautiful indoor portraits if the weather doesn’t cooperate.

Another thing I appreciate is how easy the property is to navigate. Parking sits conveniently in front of the barn which is just a few steps from the willow tree ceremony location. The reception area is all conveniently connected, making the day feel relaxed for both guests and vendors.

Photographer Tip: While the willow tree creates a beautiful backdrop, there is also a sweet gazebo that creates a great first look spot.

Style: Intimate, whimsical, willow tree, bright and airy, romantic white barn

Perfect For: Couples who love the charm of an outdoor ceremony with a bright, modern barn reception and also appreciate the convenience of the location and intimate layout.

Venue Info: Approximately 25–30 minutes from Downtown Greenville | 1045 Milford Church Road, Taylors, SC 29687 | (864) 704-9468 | yvonne@aurorafarmseventvenue.com | Up to 250 guests | Avg. venue spend: $7,950–$10,950

Southwind Ranch

If you love wide open spaces and want guests to spend the evening outside, Southwind Ranch is definitely worth touring. Upon entering, you might just see baby goats in the fields!

One thing that immediately stood out to me was the getting-ready house detached from the ceremony space and barn. The large windows fill the space with beautiful natural light, making it an easy place to photograph details, getting-ready moments, and emotional first looks with your bridesmaids before the ceremony.

The property itself offers open fields, a lake, a tree swing, and plenty of room for guests to spread out during cocktail hour. One wedding I photographed here featured Coastal Crust’s wood-fired pizza truck!. Guests played lawn games while waiting for dinner, kids adventured, and the cocktail hour was served on the outdoor patio.

Inside, the barn embraces a more rustic style while still feeling comfortable and welcoming for dinner and dancing.

Photographer Tip: Build extra time into your portrait schedule. Between the lake, fields, fences, and swing, there are so many beautiful spots around the property.

Style: Relaxed, open fields, farm, rustic barn, countryside

Perfect For: Couples wanting a laid-back wedding where guests can truly enjoy spending time outdoors together.

Venue Info: Approximately 25–30 minutes from Downtown Greenville | 330 Bates Crossing Road, Travelers Rest, SC 29690 | (864) 385-4101 | ron@southwindranchtr.com | Up to 300 guests, depending on event style | Avg. venue spend: $4,500–$10,500

Glass Venues in Greenville SC

Barn at Sitton Hill

If you love the idea of a modern barn wedding while still maximizing the outdoors, Barn at Sitton Hill offers a glass walled barn that blends the two.

One of my favorite things about this venue is how separate the getting-ready spaces feel from the ceremony. The charming English cottage sits far enough away that couples can enjoy a quiet morning without accidentally running into guests before the ceremony begins.

The ceremony patio overlooks rolling hills, creating a beautiful open backdrop without feeling overly rustic. Inside, the venue’s glass walls help blur the line between indoors and outdoors. This allowss guests to continue enjoying the scenery throughout the reception.

Photographer Tip: Plan your first look at the white pillars near the English cottage getting ready space. It offers such a different and intimate spot from the rest of the wedding day.

Style: Cottage-inspired, elegant barn, rolling hills, modern glass walls

Perfect For: Couples wanting a modern barn venue with beautiful countryside views and a touch of English charm

Venue Info: Approximately 20–25 minutes from Downtown Greenville | 1904 Sitton Hill Road, Easley, SC 29642 | (864) 787-3608 | sitton@thebarnatsittonhillfarm.com | Up to 250 guests | Avg. venue spend: $5,000–$8,000

The Cliffs at Glassy Chapel

Although the Cliffs at Glassy Chapel sits about an hour from downtown Greenville and is technically an indoor wedding venue, it’s hard to leave it off this list because it offers one of the most breathtaking ceremony views in the Upstate, where even though you’re indoors, the mountains become part of the ceremony itself.

Perched atop Glassy Mountain, the chapel’s floor-to-ceiling windows make you feel as though you’re exchanging vows in the middle of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

I’ve photographed weddings here, and one of the things I love most is watching guests experience the view for the first time.

Because the Cliffs at Glassy Chapel is a ceremony venue, most couples choose another venue, typically in Downtown Greenville, for their reception. That combination gives you the best of both worlds: unforgettable mountain views during your ceremony and a reception space designed for dinner and dancing afterward.

If you’ve always imagined saying your vows with the mountains stretching out behind you, the Cliffs at Glassy Chapel delivers one of the most iconic ceremony settings in South Carolina.

Photographer Tip: Build in extra travel time after the ceremony if you’re heading to a separate reception venue, and don’t rush your portraits. The mountain views are worth every extra minute.

Style: Mountain views, chapel, timeless, panoramic, elegant

Perfect For: Couples dreaming of a mountain ceremony with one of the most breathtaking backdrops in the Upstate.

Venue Info: Approximately 50–60 minutes from Downtown Greenville | 98 The Cliffs Parkway, Landrum, SC 29356 | (864) 663-8103 | events@cliffsliving.com | Up to 216 guests | Avg. ceremony-space spend: $4,000–$6,000; reception priced separately

Downtown Greenville Wedding Venues

The Loft at Soby’s

If you’re dreaming of an outdoor wedding in the heart of downtown Greenville, The Loft at Soby’s offers a unique covered rooftop ceremony space in the city. Located just a few minutes from Falls Park and steps from the Westin Poinsett, it’s a venue that embraces the energy of downtown.

One of my favorite things about weddings here is how the day can maximize the rooftop and the floor below. Couples typically exchange vows on the rooftop before guests head downstairs to enjoy privately prepared dinner in the beautifully restored Loft. Later in the evening, everyone makes their way back upstairs for dancing under the night sky. I love watching downtown Greenville come alive from above while guests celebrate almost in a faraway land up on the rooftop.

Because everything happens in one building, guests never have to travel between ceremony and reception locations. Out-of-town family members can easily explore Falls Park, Main Street, and nearby hotels like the AC hotel Camperdown area or the Grand Bohemian Lodge before or after the wedding, making it a wonderful option for couples planning a full wedding weekend.

As a photographer, I also appreciate how many portrait opportunities are within walking distance. Falls Park, the Liberty Bridge, brick alleyways, historic architecture around M. Judson Booksellers, and the rooftop itself all create completely different looks.

Photographer Tip: Having a full bridal party line up beside M. Judson Booksellers can be tricky especially during high-traffic hour. Consider utilizing the alleyway just across the street from M. Judson’s to still retain the historic backdrop without worrying about foot traffic.

Style: Urban, rooftop, intimate, downtown, modern

Perfect For: Couples wanting a downtown wedding with rooftop views, incredible walkability, and a memorable guest experience.

Venue Info: Located in Downtown Greenville | 22A East Court Street, Greenville, SC 29601 | (864) 232-7007 | catering@table301.com | Up to 100 guests | Avg. event spend: $3,000–$8,000

The Grand Bohemian Lodge Greenville

If you’re looking for an outdoor wedding venue in downtown Greenville that feels both luxurious and connected to the heart of Downtown Greenville, the luxurious Grand Bohemian Lodge Greenville offers one of the most unique settings in the city. While many people picture the hotel itself, one of my favorite ceremony locations is actually the outdoor lawn just overlooking the Reedy River and Falls Park. Blending our downtown and greenery brings a bit of whimsy and what I would imagine feels like 620 Loft & Garden, a Rockefeller Center rooftop wedding venue in NYC.

I had the opportunity to photograph one of the very first weddings held at Grand Bohemian Lodge after it opened. Before the ceremony, we wandered through Falls Park for portraits before making our way back to the hotel for an intimate balcony ceremony overlooking the river.

Inside, Grand Bohemian feels completely different from most hotels. The rich wood finishes, towering bookshelves, grand fireplace, and piano remind me of the warmth of Omni Grove Park Inn in Asheville, with a hint of Beauty and the Beast tucked into the design. It’s cozy, elegant, and full of character while still feeling refined enough for a luxury wedding weekend.

One of the biggest advantages of getting married here is the guest experience. Family and friends can stay on-site, explore Falls Park and Main Street, or enjoy Greenville’s restaurants without needing to drive anywhere throughout the weekend. It’s an especially great option for couples welcoming guests from out of town.

Photographer Tip: One of my favorite hidden features of Grand Bohemian Lodge is the private passageway that leads directly to the bottom of Falls Park. It makes slipping away for portraits incredibly easy without navigating through busy sidewalks, giving you quick access to one of Greenville’s most iconic backdrops.

Style: Luxury lodge, dark wood interiors, mountain-inspired, riverside, timeless, romantic, European, cozy elegance

Perfect For: Couples looking for an upscale downtown wedding with luxury accommodations, a beautiful outdoor ceremony overlooking Falls Park, and a venue that feels both elegant and full of character.

Venue Info: Located in Downtown Greenville | 44 East Camperdown Way, Greenville, SC 29601 | (864) 520-5300 | gvl-weddings@kesslerhospitality.com | Up to 150 guests, depending on event style | Est. wedding spend $15,000–$30,000+

Frequently Asked Questions About Outdoor Wedding Venues in Greenville SC

What are the best outdoor wedding venues in Greenville SC?

The best outdoor wedding venue depends on the type of wedding you’re planning. If you’re dreaming of a lakeside ceremony, Piney Grove Ranch is one of my favorite options. Couples looking for an elegant estate often love Heyward Manor or The Manor at Willowcreek, while those planning a downtown wedding should definitely tour The Loft at Soby’s. If mountain views are at the top of your list while being outdoors, the Green Valley Country Club offers one of the most beautiful ceremony backdrops in the Upstate.

How much do outdoor wedding venues in Greenville SC cost?

Wedding venue pricing varies depending on the season, guest count, and what’s included with your rental collection. Many outdoor wedding venues in the Greenville area begin around $4,000 to $7,000, while larger estates and all-inclusive venues may start closer to $10,000–15,000+. Always ask what is included in your rental fee, such as tables, chairs, getting-ready suites, ceremony setup, and cleanup, so you can accurately plan.

When is the best time of year for an outdoor wedding in Greenville?

Spring and fall are by far the most popular seasons for outdoor weddings in the Upstate. Spring brings blooming flowers, fresh greenery, and comfortable temperatures, while fall offers colorful foliage and cooler evenings.

Summer weddings can also be beautiful, but I usually recommend planning later ceremony times whenever possible due to the heat. The softer evening light is more comfortable for guests and creates beautiful portraits.

Winter weddings often surprise couples (ask about any portable heaters!). Many venues look especially elegant during the cooler months, and you’ll often have more flexibility with available dates.

How far in advance should I book my wedding venue?

Many popular outdoor wedding venues in Greenville SC book 12 to 18 months in advance, especially for spring and fall Saturdays. If you already have a specific venue or date in mind, I recommend scheduling tours as soon as possible after getting engaged.

My husband and I actually visited our venue a year before our wedding date which helped us see the general climate and lighting at the venue during that season!

What should I look for when touring outdoor wedding venues?

As you’re touring venues, don’t just imagine your ceremony. Think through your entire wedding day.

A few questions I always encourage couples to ask include:

  • Where will everyone get ready? Is there enough room?
  • Is there a rain plan?
  • Where will family portraits take place?
  • Is there enough shade during cocktail hour?
  • How far will guests need to walk between the ceremony and reception?
  • Are there multiple portrait locations throughout the property?
  • Will elderly guests or those with limited mobility be comfortable?

Some of these details may seem small at first, but they can make a huge difference in how relaxed your wedding day feels.

Choosing the Right Outdoor Wedding Venue for You

Choosing your wedding venue is one of the biggest decisions you’ll make during the planning process because it influences almost every other part of your wedding day. Your venue sets the atmosphere, shapes your guest experience, and becomes the backdrop for memories you’ll look back on for years to come.

One of my favorite parts of being a Greenville SC wedding photographer is getting to see how every couple brings a venue to life in their own way. I’ve photographed elegant estate weddings, relaxed countryside celebrations, intimate garden ceremonies, and lively downtown receptions, and no two wedding days have ever felt the same.

My biggest piece of advice is to tour a few different venues before making your decision. You might think you’re looking for a woodsy forest venue, only to fall in love with a lakeside ceremony or a mountain overlook. Pay attention to how each property makes you feel, imagine your guests celebrating alongside you in that season, and choose the place that feels the most like you.

No matter which venue you choose, remember that your wedding day is ultimately about the people you’re sharing it with. The flowers will eventually fade, the cake will be eaten, and the dance floor will empty, but the memories you create together will last a lifetime (that’s why we document and print them!).

Inquire about Your Wedding Day

If you’re still searching for the perfect photographer to document your wedding day, I’d love to help. My goal is to create joyful, genuine photographs while helping your day feel relaxed from beginning to end. From timeline planning to heirloom albums and framed artwork, I’m passionate about preserving your memories in a way you can enjoy long after your wedding day is over.

Ready to start planning? I’d love to hear about your wedding day and help you choose a venue that’s the perfect fit for your vision. Get in touch here to schedule a discovery call!
