Piney Grove Ranch offered an ethereal, lush backdrop for Marlee + Cameron’s wedding day. Even with light drizzle here and there, their celebration felt magical from start to finish. From clear umbrellas that added a whimsical touch to the seamless teamwork of all the vendors, the entire day flowed beautifully. I’m so thankful for a couple who embraced every moment with joy!
Looking back at these images, you’d never guess the weather wasn’t exactly as planned! The photos feel full of warmth and light. For couples wondering how a rainy day would affect photos at Piney Grove Ranch, this celebration is proof that the venue offers gorgeous backup options while keeping the day stress-free!
The morning began with the girls getting their makeup done while the guys were outside laughing and playing corn hole (groomsmen have it easy!).
We captured Marlee’s dress and flat lay details on the patio outside the main building, where the soft, overcast light was perfect for photos. One of the best things about Piney Grove Ranch is how we can create magical romantic wedding photos in almost any corner of the property even on cloudy days.
For Marlee + Cameron’s first look, my original plan was to use the “pond walk” beside the water (where my husband and I actually shared our own first look!). When the weather shifted, we simply pivoted to beside the covered patio. The awning offered just enough shelter for us to pop in and out easily, while still allowing for stunning, naturally lit portraits. Shooting from this angle added depth and dimension with the patio as a backdrop as opposed to the green forest.
Instead of jumping straight into couple portraits, we started with family photos under the awning. It was the perfect rainy-day alternative, still showcasing the greenery of the venue.
One of the most loved features of Piney Grove Ranch weddings is the option to host your ceremony beside the water. The bridal party walked down the grand stone steps onto the beautiful deck by the pond.
One image I especially loved was capturing the reflection of the ceremony in the water from across the pond—it just felt so cinematic.
After their reception entrance, we were able to sneak away for a little adventure—a rowboat ride across the pond! Mirroring their engagement session at Furman University, Marlee + Cameron’s Piney Grove Ranch wedding photos truly looked like they belonged in a storybook. For couples dreaming of romantic, adventurous portraits, the pond, willow tree, and open woodsy path here provide endless opportunities.
As a Greenville SC couples photographer, I love capturing these intimate, storybook moments—the little adventures, the shared laughter, and the genuine connection between couples.
Guests enjoyed some yummy Moe’s for dinner right before they filled the dance floor out in the covered patio; even Marlee’s grandparents joined in!
The night ended with everyone forming a dance circle together, just absorbing the day. It was the perfect close to a day full of laughter, love, and meaningful moments.
Piney Grove Ranch is a versatile Greenville SC wedding venue with exclusive access to the entire property, making it ideal for a private, thoughtfully curated celebration. The venue can host up to 150 guests and offers unique spaces like the Farmhouse accommodation and bridal and groom suites, path beside the pond, glass-walled reception building, and even fun touches like a tree swing and mini golf and disc golf baskets. It’s approximately a 40-minute drive from downtown Greenville, providing both convenience and a sense of escape.
Marlee + Cameron, thank you for entrusting me with capturing not just your wedding day, but your journey from engagement to the “I do’s.” Every detail, every laugh, and every joyful moment was such a privilege to document. I can’t wait to see your favorite romantic wedding photos framed and nestled in your home: a keepsake you’ll cherish for years to come!
